David R. Rippey, Ed.D - Senior Partner

Dave brings nearly three decades of broad professional and executive expertise. He has provided executive leadership in both the public and private sectors; leadership and management development to business, education, and government sectors; and consultation to large and small organizations on issues related to the people side of their businesses.

He has devoted his career to helping leaders address universal leadership challenges —bringing diverse and talented individuals together in a common purpose, gaining their commitment and accountability, executing their work with skill and determination, and laying the groundwork for a prosperous and sustainable future.

He recently was a partner in a Washington DC-based research and consulting firm, where he was responsible for developing and converting the firm’s extensive leadership and knowledge base into the models, tools and processes for delivery to Fortune 100 clients worldwide.

Earlier in his career, Dave led enterprise-wide education and training operations at Pennsylvania Blue Shield for nearly ten years, where he was responsible for the company’s multi-site training operations including executive and management development, technical training, basic skills training and continuing education programs.

He also played a key role in establishing Aetna Life and Casualty’s Institute for Corporate Education.  As a member of the initial Institute team, he was instrumental in establishing the strategy, structure, programs and services of the Institute for the company’s then 38,000-plus employees.

He also directed the curriculum and staff development team for the School of Professional Studies and the U.S. Foreign Service Institute.  The team designed and delivered the Institute’s first leadership and management programs using experiential and action learning methods in embassies around the world.

Dave has held academic and teaching appointments at the University of Connecticut, Harvard University, and the Aspen Institute.  He holds a BA in English from Lehigh University; an MA in Higher, Technical and Adult Education from the University of Connecticut, and an Ed.D. from Harvard University in Administration, Planning and Social Policy.

He is a decorated Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served with distinction as a Hospital Corpsman.  His passions include skiing (downhill, straight skis), cooking, surfing (longboard), music (especially blues), his 4 sons (all married or nearly) and his wife (smart, beautiful and a world citizen), “…not necessarily in that order…”, he adds.
